The Mavericks posted their highest shot total in franchise history as they defeated Tulsa, 4-2, in front of the Mavericks' second consecutive home sellout. Toby Lafrance, Olivier Filion, Dominic D'Amour and Simon Watson all recorded two points each for the Mavericks who won their third straight game. The first period began with both teams struggling to mount scoring chances. The Mavs and Oilers traded punch for punch on special teams, as both squads held man advantages three times each in the period. The Mavericks would be the only ones who took advantage though, when Dominic D'Amour rifled home a slap shot on the Mavs final power play chance of the period. Toby Lafrance and Olivier Filion assisted on the goal. The Mavericks' first tally would set the trend for the rest of the evening. Mavericks' goaltender Rob Nolan had 10 saves in the opening frame. Ian Keserich of Tulsa stopped nine of 10 shots. The middle act proved to be full of action as the Mavs and Oilers racked up the shots and penalty minutes. Cole Ruwe was called for tripping just under four minutes in to the period. Three seconds later, the Oilers tied the game on a power play goal from Derek Eastman. Gary Steffes was credited with an assist on the goal. The teams went ... Duration: 1:45 Published: 2010-11-21

Some of the newest members of the Shock (8-2) had the biggest impact on the game, including LB Antwan Marsh. The versatile Marsh scored the first touchdown of the game, and the first of his AFL career, on a one-yard sweep into the endzone. Three quarters later, Marsh recorded his second interception of the season, helping Spokane pull away from the Talons. The newest member of the wide receiving corps, WR Emery Sammons, recorded his first touchdown of the season on a 47-yard bomb from QB Kyle Rowley on the final play of the third quarter. Sammons' touchdown reception bailed out Spokane's offense that had lost yardage on the previous two plays. With 307 passing yards, Rowley recorded his sixth 300-yard passing game of the season. Additionally, Rowley posted seven touchdown passes -- including five for Spokane's leading receiver, Raul Vijil. Vijil led the team with 11 receptions for 103 receiving yards. Spokane's defense held Tulsa to its lowest point total of the season (42). Talons QB Justin Allgood was under relentless pressure all night from Spokane's defensive line. Coming into tonight's game, the Talons' offensive line had only given up two sacks in ten games. Tonight, Spokane's DL Ben McCombs and Jerry Turner each recorded a sack. Turner's sack also forced a fumble that was recovered by Shock DB William Mulder. In addition to Marsh's ... Duration: 5:01 Published: 2010-06-20

My prize was an encounter with the Oregon Ducks (6-6) in the Humanitarian Bowl on the Smurf turf at Boise State. Final Score: Tulsa 10, Oregon 41 In a match up that was billed as a close encounter, and it certainly looked that way early on, Oregon finally took control after half-time as they ran out comfortable winners. Senior Samie Parker gave the Duck's fans something to remember him by as he dealt out a match winning performance after catching five balls for 173 yards and one touchdown. It wasn't a happy return to Bronco Stadium for the Golden Hurricanes, which was a stark contrast to their surprising win over fellow WAC foes Boise State in the same stadium earlier in the year. Senior running-back Eric Richardson found it tough going after posting up just 63 yards on 22 caries. He was later replaced by sophomore Uril Parrish who didn't fair much better either. However, Tulsa should be proud that they even made it this far after starting the season poorly with a 1-4 record before they managed to put together a seven game winning streak, that saw them eventually claim the WAC Championship. The Golden Hurricanes must now look towards next season and hope that they're recent national exposure aids them greatly in their recruiting drive. Duration: 6:48 Published: 2008-07-06
